HOSTEL FOR BOYS

Montfort Boarding is a residence for boy students of Montfort School , Anakkara. It was started in the year 2000. This boarding aims at providing a home atmosphere where a happy, friendly and spiritual relationship is fostered and maintained. The boarding life here helps the child to imbibe all the spiritual and moral virtues.

Admission

Application for admission to the hostel can be collected from the school office.
Only Montfort School students are admitted to Montfort Hostel. Dismissal or withdrawal from the school automatically affects the place in the hostel and vice versa.
The warden will be in charge of the management and day to day administration of the hostel.
In matters of admission, accommodation and disciplinary action the Local Superior's ruling shall be final.

Discipline

Every boarder shall maintain the highest moral standards of life at all places. Rules of modesty and decorum in dress must be strictly adhered to.
All cases of illness must be immediately reported to the warden. In case of serious illness the parent/guardian must take charge of their ward.
An inmate who wishes to vacate the hostel must give a written notice two weeks in advance, signed by their parent guardian and total fees due for the term will have to be paid.

Visitors and Phone Calls

Relatives and friends of students are not allowed to visit them during school hours.

Parents are requested not to disturb the regular rhythm of boarding by their frequent visits and phone calls.
If there is an urgent need to meet your children, you may do so only on Sundays between 1.30 and 4.00 p.m. Whenever such visits are to be made you are expected to get prior permission from the warden.
Hostel students are permitted to take leave only for the family programmes related to their father, mother, sisters, brothers and grand parents.
Telephone calls can be received from 7.00 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays only.
On second Saturdays and Terminal Holidays, hostel students are permitted to be taken home by their parents or guardians with the permission of the warden.
Those students who go home for holidays are to be back by the eve of the next working day, before 5 p.m.

General Rules

Montfort being an English medium school, the students are expected to use English as the medium of communication within the campus.
Every student is expected to maintain the high tone and reputation of the hostel by excelling out in the conduct, good manners and cleanliness both in and out of the campus.
Boarders can write to their parents or guardians every Sunday. The warden of the hostel reserves to himself the right of controlling the correspondence of boarders.
No one is allowed to leave the campus without prior permission from the warden.
Students are not allowed to bring valuables, such as gold ornaments, cameras, tape recorders, mobile phones, costly watches etc. Students are responsible for the safe custody of their personal belongings.
Boarders should keep strict discipline regarding rule of language, silence especially in the dormitory, study halls, bathrooms etc.
Boarders should not exchange articles or money with other students and no personal food item is allowed in the hostel. All money is to be deposited with the warden.
Books, magazines, periodicals or CD's not approved by the warden are strictly prohibited.
The use of tobacco, drugs, intoxicants etc are strictly forbidden and violation of this will result in immediate dismissal.
Wanton damage to school property, disfiguring of walls, indecent language or behaviour are punishable offences.
After night prayer, silence is to be maintained until next day breakfast.
Silence is to be maintained in the dining hall until the prayer before meal is over.
Use of private electric/electronic appliances is forbidden.
Good conduct from all students both inside and outside the hostel is strictly demanded. Bad behaviour, lack of respect to the authorities, indiscipline, repeated late coming, interference with the privacy of others, disobedience of rules of the hostel are reasons enough for one to be dismissed from the hostel.
Wanton damage to school property, disfiguring of walls, indecent language or behaviour are punishable offences.Hostel authorities have the right to take disciplinary actions against any inmate if and when found offendable against the hostel regulations.
Montfort Hostel is a home away from home. Students are most welcome to meet the Principal or Warden to explain individual problem or difficulties, if any. Outfits

Outfits

Apart from the school uniform, the following items are to be brought :
2 bathing towels and 3 sets of night suits (no lungi allowed)
4 sets of colour dress. (a) 2 pairs of black shoes. (b) 2 pairs of white shoes and (c)One pair of slippers
2 sports banians, 1 school tie, 1 school belt and one woolen sweater. (These items can be bought from the school.)
2 pillow cases, 1 good woolen blanket and 2 bed sheets.
3 pairs of games dress and two pairs of canvas shoes for games.
Required postal stamps and inland letters.

Other Personal requirements

Soap, soap dish, washing soap, a plastic bucket and a plastic mug.
Comb, mirror and hair oil, tooth paste and tooth brush.
Shoe polish and brush.
4 good locks and a key chain (Duplicate keys are to be deposited with warden.)
Pen, marker pen, pencil, sharpener, foot rule, eraser, mathematical instrument box and colour pencils.
